CVCAS and Rainforest Art ring in the season, look forward to 2026

Visitors to the Rainforest Arts gallery will be seeing red during the month of December. But don’t worry, the Red & White show, which will be on at the gallery from Dec. 19 to Jan.10, will be a great way to sync with the mood of the season.

The gallery, located at 9781 Willow Street in Chemainus, is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information is available at RainforestArts.ca.

For families, the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society, with help from The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 191 and the Chemainus Rotary Club, will again be hosting Little Town Christmas. Mark Dec. 6, 1 to 4 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 9775 Chemainus Road, on your calendars.

There will be something for the kid in everyone at this activity-oriented event. Join in festivities that include face painting, a raffle table, a door prize, hot dogs and hot chocolate, swag making, children’s ornament creating, and more.

Music will be provided by Sweet Harmony, and everyone will be eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa and their opportunities to sit for photos with the famous elf.

“We want to wish everyone in the Chemainus Valley the best of the season,” CVCAS Chair Bev Knight said. “Supporting the arts and culture is always important, but it definitely adds to the community’s joy at this time of year.”

She noted that two anniversaries are being prepared for as 2025 draws to a close: the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society is making plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary; Rainforest Arts, which is part of the CVCAS, will be celebrating its 10th.

“We want to encourage more people to enjoy the talents of the musicians, artists, and writers in our region; we also hope more people will join us as volunteers supporting the arts. We want our celebration to be about a future building on our vibrant past.”
