We have possession of our new space!

After months of laying the groundwork, we finally took possession of our new space in the Coastal Community Building at 9781 Willow Street in Chemainus. We were happy to put away our organizational and planning skills to get down and dirty in the gallery to give it a fresh, new look.
We were lucky enough to have ‘good bones’, including two large banks of windows and a full glass interior wall to give us the light we needed.

Our renovation team was led by volunteer husband, Dave Hinchcliffe, who put in several days of filling holes, prepping walls and painting. Where would we be without our wonderful volunteers? Treva scrounged around Used Nanaimo to find some incredible display cases that are perfect for our small space, while Lorraine scoured the Thrift Shop for treasures to supply our front desk and display cases. Artists came forth with props and other items needed to make our store shine.

With only two weeks to pull it all together, our fabulous team was up to the challenge. Next task: intake and cataloguing of the work of over forty Island artists.

We are thrilled with the variety of work we have to show you. Whether you are looking for wall art, sculptures, functional wood, glass and pottery, jewellery or wearable art and art cards, we have something for everyone.

Be sure to drop by soon! We are inside the Coastal Community Building, just south of Waterwheel parking lot. We are open seven days a week during the summer.
